Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar has introduced
its own private label wine 46 Diamonds.
Fleming’s National Director of Wine Marian Jansen op de Haar partnered with Winemaker Ken Deis of Flora Springs Winery and Vineyards in St. Helena, California to bottle this blend of five Bordeaux grape varietals: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot. Aged for 26 months in 100% French oak barrels with 70% new oak, 46 Diamonds emerged with a brilliant ruby red color, an elegant fruit forward taste and integrated fine, ripe tannins. Black cherry, plum raspberry, cassis and oak are the strongest aromas and flavors, accented by tobacco and cedar notes.
“In creating 46 Diamonds, it was important that the quality of the wine reflect Fleming’s quality and accessibility,” says Jansen op de Haar. “Each sip of our wine is meant to echo the warm and sophisticated ambiance of the restaurant and, ultimately, to complete the overall Fleming’s experience.”
For its premiere vintage, Fleming’s commissioned Artist Thomas Arvid to create the initial label for this unique wine. World renowned for his oversized still life paintings of wine and the rituals surrounding its consumption, Arvid’s label design is a departure from his typical style. For the first time in his career, Arvid includes a self-portrait. It features his hands sketching on a blank canvas with his reflection slightly visible in the wine bottle in the frame.
“46 Diamonds is the natural progression for Fleming’s ongoing commitment to provide the very best wine experience for our guests,” says Skip Fox, president. “We enjoy creating memorable times on many different levels, and we’re proud to share this limited-edition private label wine with our guests.”
